| IS BARACK OBAMA A TROJAN HORSE? |
The residents of ancient Troy were no fools, so how did they talk themselves into allowing their lives to be destroyed overnight by an old Greek trick?
As Thomas Sowell has pointed out in his recent essay, AN OLD NEWNESS*: “One of the painful aspects of studying great catastrophes of the past is discovering how many times people were preoccupied with trivialities when they were teetering on the edge of doom.”
Troy was one of the most powerful and wealthy city-states of ancient times, invulnerable by normal methods of warfare. The Greeks found this out, as the legend goes, in long and furious attacks against Troy’s defenses. Having little success, they devised a strategy was devised to penetrate Troy’s defenses in a “different” way.
Some liken Troy to the United States today, rich, powerful and confident, perhaps over confidant. Some say that Troy had the best in world-class defenses but their weakness came from within. Their political leaders were used to arguing long and hard over trivial matters and why not in a nation where the essentials were plentiful and taken for granted.
As time went on the population couldn’t tell what was trivial and what was important. Therefore, accepting a Greek gift was seen by only a few, too few, as a bad idea without merit. The impending danger should have been foreseen. It should have been obvious, but, because society had elevated sophistry (flawed method of argumentation) ahead of practical thinking, they were ripe for a fatal mistake.
They made that mistake and there was no recovering from it. Troy became legendary in history as an example of excellence, except for this one very bad, ultimately fatal blunder!
Sowell says, “There is no reason why someone as arrogant, foolishly clever and ultimately dangerous as Barack Obama should become President -- especially not at a time when the threat of international terrorists with nuclear weapons looms over 300 million Americans. Many people seem to regard elections as occasions for venting emotions, like cheering for your favorite team or choosing a Homecoming Queen.”
So, are we opening the gates to the Trojan Horse? The American people are not fools but perhaps, like the citizens of Troy, they are so engaged with trivia that they will become victims of well-financed political sophistry.

| FISCH-ING FOR THE TRUTH |
Click HERE to read Rick Fischer's article in Wake Up Call Missouri. Here are some excerpts from his blog:

..."The post (from Rick's blog site) was about a story written by Paul Hampel, who apparently had a bad day and decided to take it out on citizens who dare to question their local governments. Actually, after speaking with one of the people Hampel attacked, it appears it wasn't simply a bad day on Hampel's part, but rather a planned attack."
..."Sandy Waters is a 64-year old widow who has lived in St. Peters for over 34 years. She has been a trustee in her subdivision for over 20 years, a job that comes with no pay but a lot of headaches." |

RESPONSE TO A READER:
THE TAX REVOLT STARTS! |
SUNDAY RANTS AND THE ETHANOL HOAX
Farmers are finally getting rewarded for their production. Too bad it's happening through ignorance and stupidity. (See The great corn and ethanol hoax by Walter E. Williams) ...... Same "deal" as the Border...Political "leadership" just can't handle it and, as a result of long standing voter frustration with politicians, the USA could wind up with far out "lefty" nut cases filling government posts and imposing radical policies on the American People!
Right now, the "hard core" socialist lefties are running "incognito" and engaging in a political campaign that is carefully disguising what they will do if they win, and they are ahead! Except for Fox News and conservative talk radio, the media is ignoring their obligation to expose this. Still, there is time for them to make it right! If the two leading Democrat Presidential candidates, along with their "fellow travelers" are able to fool enough voters and if enough conservatives ignore the obvious, the radicals will get control of the White House. Combine that with a socialist leaning majority in Congress and that's when the real nutcase policies will emerge! Think it can't happen? Read on... |

| Will the Real Senator Obama Please Stand Up! |
In a speech yesterday, Senator Obama tried to explain his view that ordinary small town folks are "bitter" and as a result cling to guns and religion because they are victims of, among other things, "Globalization" of jobs. He further indicated that those who criticize his opinion on this are the very ones who have promoted the export of jobs overseas.

"...he followed up with a question about whether she could ever become violent over the actions of the city. (In the article Hampel indicates he asked another of the "gadflies" if he could see himself committing an act of violence like Charles "Cookie" Thornton, who killed five people at a Kirkwood council meeting last month.)"
"Hampel's article was titled "After Kirkwood shootings, gadflies under the microscope."

| DEMOCRATS AND GUN CONTROL |
Excerpt from NRA-ILA bulletin:
At the time, Obama was a state senator in Illinois, where he supported increasing federal excise taxes on guns and ammunition by 500 percent, banning compact handguns, limiting the frequency of gun purchases, banning the sale of guns (except antiques) at gun shows, charging a person with a felony offense if his gun were stolen and used in a crime, prohibiting people under age 21 from possessing guns, increasing the gun dealer licensing fee, prohibiting dealers from conducting business at gun shows or within five miles of a school or park, and banning police agencies from selling old service firearms to generate funds to buy new firearms for their officers.
From 1998 to 2001, Obama was also a director of the Joyce Foundation, the largest provider of tax-free funds to anti-gun groups and causes in this country—$19 million, including $1.5 million to the ultra-radical Violence Policy Center during Joyce’s Obama years. Obama even considered becoming Joyce’s president, according to the Boston Globe.
To be fair, I should mention that Obama’s chief rival for the 2008 Democratic nomination, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., has a serious anti-gun record, as well. When she was First Lady, Clinton endorsed a 25 percent tax on handguns, an increase in the federal gun dealer license fee to $2,500, registration and licensing of handguns and their owners, and registration and licensing for all new owners of rifles and shotguns.
