THE TAX HIKE IDIOTS ARE AT IT AGAIN!
Talk about being removed from reality!
Here we are, being hammered by one of the most severe economic downturns of the past 100 years and The National Commission on Surface Transportation Infrastructure Financing, a 15-member panel created by Congress, is recommending a doubling of fuel taxes! This nitwit move would wind up increasing the cost of EVERYTHING transported in the country and would shortly raise the cost of everything from fuel to food to whatever is subject to transportation.
While responsible leaders try to find a way to lower costs so people can have some of their own money to spend we see this little band of politically appointed gnomes emerging (apparently from outer space) to recommend a DOUBLING of taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel. We haven't checked but we believe most of these people truly come from another world! Certainly they must belong to the "tax and spend" liberal establishment, those who live on other people's money and have the authority to require someone else to pay their living expenses.
Who in their right mind would recommend increasing ANY tax under current economic conditions? Only someone completely removed from reality and a certified member of the IDIOTS CLUB would recommend RAISING ANY TAX in the present economic climate! Those in office everywhere, from local levels on up, should be LOWERING taxes in order to put money back in the hands of the people and to get the economy moving again.

The most recent elections show that people are voting back the same bunch over and over. We intend to remedy this habit starting with small local jurisdictions and go upwards from there. As the old saying goes, “You should start by fixing what’s going on at home, first!”
The Republican Central Committee and the township mayors and voting districts here in St Charles County, MO are a good illustration of out point. We just put the same old bunch of irresponsible “tax hikers” back in office time and time again. It doesn’t seem to matter whether they are Democrats or Republicans! They all seem to have a pet project (Usually named after themselves) to spend taxpayer money on...then they whine about not having enough money and start talking about raising taxes! Because of this “condition” those who work hard for change are frustrated in achieving it and many have just given up trying. The recent economic downturn will likely get alot worse before it gets better and that dictates aggressive tax cutting on the part of elected officials. They just never seem to learn that cutting people's taxes and keeping them low stimulates the economy and ultimately provides more income for government. But they don't want to wait! They want the $ now and act in total disregard of citizen hardships to keep their coffers full and their "special intersts" satisfied! This is not only outrageously arrogant but destructive of the economy. Republicans are just as guilty or more so than are the Democrats!
The free flow of money into political campaigns and the public’s lack of awareness of the process is the main factor in keeping the same old gang in office. Until that changes much will remain unchanged. One way to open people’s eyes is for them to pick up their tax bill and see how much they are paying for this lack of discipline and fiscal responsibility. The phrase “other people’s money” made a good movie title and it is certainly appropriate at describing the attitude of many of our politicians. The farther they go up in status, the more of our money they spend. On a percentage scale the locals are way outdoing the national politicians. Many people were hit with a 30% increase in property taxes for one year alone in the County. And this while property VALUES are going down. That can only be described as OUTRAGEOUS!” Tax money is being handed out in the trillions across the country by all levels of government from local mayors and city councils to the Federal Government and taxpayers are being stressed to the limit with the giveaways. Nobody anywhere knows where all these "bailouts" will end but many well informed economists suggest that it is guaranteeing a very long, deep and drawn out recession. We must learn the hard way, I guess!
It’s not difficult to see why nothing is done about this because politicians are advised they can “snow” the voters with a few illustrated color brochures pockmarked by false economics and smear tactics. Interests outside the community stand to gain piles of money when their “pets” render the expected giveaways so they are more than eager to pick up the tab. This is going on "bigtime" right now in Washington. The Secrtary of the Treasury is enabling all of his pals to buy out their compeition and give each other huge year end bonuses with taxpayer money. The banks and now even private copanies, if they are big enough, are being sent a message that "
they can't fail." This does nothing but tell tham that they can engage in even more outrageous mismanagement of funds becasue they don;t need to worry about going bankrupt. What a message to send. Now we are telling the autoi companies that they can make teh crappiest cars in the world and we will still prop them up. What a mesaage to send to a uch of economic vultures. Like Freddie and Fanny, your tax money will, be sent to line the pockets of lousy executives who just can't make it on their own, They can sure spend your money on big get-togethers and the school chums ad companies and lousy design firms though!
There seem to be more than enough politicians and would-be politicians who are standing in line to do most anything to gain office. We see a good many of them in St Charles County who are rendering big bucks to their patrons while setting up a path to ever increasing taxes for their constituents.
his and many other eaasons are why we now start this TAXPAYER REVOLT. Maybe, if the politicians don’t have the money to squander, we may get more civic minded talent to run for office. It will be difficult to tolerate the whining and threats we will hear because, as we have seen in the past, they want the taxpayer on the hook but without any real stake in the enterprise. In other words, if we make mney its ours and we just pay back what you gave us, or, better yet, maybe we can even get out of doing that. You take the risk, we get the reward! It’s up to us to see that they don't get awya with this by understanding the process and voting them out of office next time around! As far as education is concerned, that has to do with the quality of the people involved and not the quantity of building contracts awarded. Some of the best educated people in the world come from schools where the last building was built a hundred years or more ago and they don’t spend half the school budget busing kids to football or basketball games on the other side of the state. |
